CALL FOR\nPROPOSALS FOR THE HOSTING OF THE INTERNET GOVERNANCE FORUM OF LATIN AMERICA AND\nTHE CARIBBEAN \u2013 LACIGF<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Group\nof Organizers of LACIGF<\/a> are\npleased to announce the realization of the Twelfth Internet Governance Forum of\nLatin America and the Caribbean, to be held on the week of August 5 to 9, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in the\nprevious editions, the purpose of the meeting is to provide a space for\nmulti-stakeholder political dialogue between governments, the private sector,\nthe technical community, the academia, and civil society organizations. The\nregion has made progress in understanding the challenges currently posed by\nInternet governance and further debate will contribute to consolidate agendas,\ninitiatives and policies to respond to regional priorities. The regional\nmeeting on Internet governance also points to broaden the region\u2019s\nparticipation at the 2019 Internet Governance Forum (IGF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Likewise,\nas in previous editions, one of the meeting\u2019s goals is to inform the region\u2019s\nstakeholders on the issues and trends observed in the debates and discussions\nof the global IGF. The process of regionalizing the discussion around the\nagenda established by the IGF has been taking shape since 2008. For the 2019\nand 2020 editions of this event, the group of organizers is seeking an\norganization able to host the Governance Forum, which should happen in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Proposals\nfrom organizations interested in hosting LACIGF 2019 and LACIGF 2020 will be\nreceived from 14 December 2018 until 8 March 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on\ntheir criteria, the Program Committee will select the two best proposals, which\nwill be designated to host LACIGF 2019 and LACIGF 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Description of the process<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The\nprevious Latin American and the Caribbean Regional Preparatory Meetings for the\nInternet Governance Forum have gathered an average of 200 participants and had\nthe duration of 3 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The group\nof organizers is responsible for the structuring of the open consultation, for\nthe consolidation of the agenda and for the invitations of the panelists and\nmoderators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The hosting\norganization is responsible for the logistical aspects of the meeting \u2013 among\nthem, choosing the venue, facilitating the hosting of participants in hotels,\norganizing translation, organizing the catering and producing the support and\ndissemination material for the meeting, in close articulation with the group of\norganizers. The hosting organization should also prepare and keep updated the\nevent budget proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The budget\nof the event is built along the preparation for the meeting, and the group of\norganizers engages in a coordinated effort of fundraising. Part of the budget\nis already guaranteed in the beginning of the process, but the total amount of\nresources available for the meeting is provisional \u2013 this leads to the need of\na common commitment among all the organizations involved in the process to make\ndecisions based on the optimization of available resources. The host\norganization is expected, therefore, for engaging in this process with this perspective\nof making the most effective use of financial and human assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
