{"id":205,"date":"2019-06-07T12:40:44","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T15:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/eventos.lacigf.org\/?page_id=205"},"modified":"2019-06-07T12:41:00","modified_gmt":"2019-06-07T15:41:00","slug":"open-process-for-the-review-of-regional-mechanisms-for-internet-governance-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/eventos.lacigf.org\/en\/open-process-for-the-review-of-regional-mechanisms-for-internet-governance-dialogue\/","title":{"rendered":"Open process for the review of regional mechanisms for Internet governance dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since 2008, the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance\nForum (LACIGF) is the regional meeting space for multistakeholder policy\ndialogue where actors representing different sectors of the community,\nincluding governments, the private sector, the technical community and civil\nsociety, meet annually to address the most relevant aspects of the Internet and\nits impact on the development of the information society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After eleven (11) editions of the LACIGF which have served to\nadvance in addressing the main topics of interest to the community, new\nchallenges are presented in relation to the mechanisms for the discussion of\nkey governance issues at a regional level, as well as to their future\nsustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this reason, together with some of the stakeholders that are\npart of the Internet community, the Program Committee believes it is necessary\nto conduct an updated analysis of the status of the LACIGF as well as of the\nfuture of Internet Governance discussions in Latin America and the Caribbean\n(LAC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This analysis has been entrusted to Ra\u00fal Echeberr\u00eda, a leading Internet Governance specialist, who will be responsible for conducting an <strong>open process<\/strong> to identify consensus and options for updating and evolving regional Internet Governance mechanisms, taking into consideration the points of view of the various actors involved in the discussion process in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An open call is made to the community to submit any comments, suggestions or contributions that will allow us to identify the key factors in the evolution of regional governance mechanisms.
