We announce the date of the 17th edition of LACIGF!
The Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (LACIGF), is pleased to officially announce that the 17th edition will be held on November 7-8, 2024 in the city of Santiago de Chile, Chile. This forum, which brings together the community interested in Internet governance in the region, will also feature adjunct activities that will complement the main sessions of both days.
For this edition, LACIGF has partnered with a group of local organizations from different sectors such as: Fundación Datos Protegidos, Internet Society Chile Chapter, Derechos Digitales, Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile (DCC-FCFM), NIC Chile and Fundación Kamanau. It is also supported by Movistar, which will provide the venue for the event at the Telefónica Building. We thank these organizations for their interest and dynamism in the preparation and development of this regional dialogue on issues of Internet governance and digital policies.
This year, LACIGF has implemented innovations with respect to the definition of the agenda, calling for the postulation of sessions, which is open until August 11. We invite all interested parties to submit their session proposals and to contribute to this space for discussion and joint construction. The participation of all stakeholders is essential, as it allows us to nurture a solid agenda with a diversity of voices, ideas and concerns about Internet governance in the region.
In addition, we remind you that the LACIGF 2024 Workshop Selection Committee (CST) has been formed to select the sessions that will be part of the official agenda. For the formation of this committee, 74 applications were received from 20 different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The selection process was carried out by the LACIGF Multi-Stakeholder Committee (CMPI), which evaluated the applications considering aspects such as experience, geographic, multisectoral and gender diversity. The full list of CST members for 2024 is available for consultation here: httpss://eventos.lacigf.org/en/conformation/
