2024 Financial assistance program

The organizing entities of LACIGF 2024 will offer a limited number of partial financial assistance scholarships, aimed at individuals from the Latin American and Caribbean Internet community who are interested in attending the 17th edition of the Latin American and Caribbean Internet Governance Forum, to be held on November 7-8, 2024, in Santiago, Chile.

Selection Process

A selection process will be carried out among the applicants for the allocation of partial financial assistance. The assistance includes (1) one of the following benefits:

Option 1 – Lodging
– Lodging expenses (maximum 4 nights, including day 0) at the host hotel or close to the event venue, for one person in a single room.

Option 2 – Airfare
– Round-trip airfare from the applicant’s place of residence to the city where the event is held. (Does not include airport taxes or visa costs. The processing of visas and other requirements, such as vaccinations, will be the responsibility of the applicant).

Available resources are limited, so scholarships are NOT guaranteed for all applicants. Approval will be communicated directly to selected individuals.

Important:

  • Financial assistance will be awarded exclusively to persons residing in the Latin American and/or Caribbean region.
  • The decisions of the CMPI Multi-Stakeholder Committee are final.
  • Selected applicants must communicate their acceptance of the conditions of the scholarship within the established deadline.
  • The assistance are non-transferable.
  • The final list of beneficiaries will be published on the event website.

Selection Criteria

The group of selected individuals will include representation from all sectors of interest related to Internet governance (representatives of companies, civil society, governments, social organizations, etc.) as well as representation of gender and country of origin.

The CMPI reserves the right to select the persons it considers most appropriate to receive the assistance under the established criteria, without any obligation to justify the result of this selection.

Requirements to be met by those selected. Assistance recipients must agree to attend all sessions of the meeting.

They will have the obligation to attend all the meetings to which they are summoned and to comply with the requirements or tasks that are requested, such as:

  • Participate in all open sessions of the event.
  • Be available to moderate remote participation (chat room) in plenary sessions and forums.

Calendar

  • Financial assistance application period: October 9 through October 16
  • Announcement of results to applicants: October 21st
  • Publication of the list of beneficiaries: October 25

Applications will not be accepted after the established deadline.

Beneficiaries will be informed directly by e-mail.
